“Tourism promotes understanding of the difference in the cultures of a visitor (tourist) and a host (locals). This understanding increases the tourist’s knowledge of the destination and encourages peaceful interaction between tourist and locals. Discuss your thoughts on this statement and provide examples of how you think tourism can promote peace in Kiribati and strengthen the knowledge of the Ikiribati people”.

Building peace and fostering knowledge is crucial to the development of the tourism especially in Kiribati. As stated, “Tourism understanding increases the tourists’ knowledge the destination and encourages peaceful interaction between tourists’ locals”. Since tourist, are very important to the host and to  our nation. It is vital that locals will know how to satisfy the needs and the requirement of the tourist. In order to achieve this there should be on going capacity building so that the local will have in mind that tourism is very important. They will also consider the five As’ of tourism so they will provide a peaceful mind to the tourists. However, this essay will discuss my thoughts on the statement above and provide examples of how tourism can promote peace in Kiribati and strengthen the knowledge of the I-Kiribati people.
