Restaurants & Bars

Restaurants and Bar operators are required to meet compliance criteria based on the food and Safety Act 2006 set by the Ministry of Health and Medical Services. TAK will work with the National Audit Committee, made up of key government departments to ensure that the food and safety Act is complied with by all restaurants and bars. The Mauri Mark audit of these operations will be carried out annually and Mauri Mark certification will be based on assessment results from the National Audit Committee and TAK’s Inspector’s assessment.

Restaurants and bars will be evaluated in the following criteria:

  • Safe food handling
  • Personal health, hygiene, and behavior of food handlers
  • Cleaning facilities and equipment
  • Pest control
  • Design, layout, internal structures, and fittings of premises
  • Labelling

Certification will influence the operator’s ability to receive/renew their business license. Certified restaurants will receive a Mauri Mark Approved Certification by TAK that must be displayed in their place of business.
